TLC Extreme Couponing

Angelique Campbell Reveals her TLC Extreme Couponing Season 3 Shopping Trip!

Interested in understanding more about how my Extreme Couponing Season 3 went down? I will do my best to give you all the information about my trip…and answer any questions you may have!

  1. Where did you shop?
I shopped at Kmart in Everett Washington.
  2. How long did your shopping trip take?
It’s important to remember that while I did a huge trip I was also filming so it did take longer than if I would have just gone to the store and shopped. I ended up in the store for approximately 14 hours!!!! Yes it was a very very very long day! Much harder pregnant than the first time I shopped for Extreme Couponing Season 1
  3. Is this a “normal” trip for you?
No! I do not tend to go to the store and spend that much time shopping or even filling multiple carts. I prefer to do frequent small trips to the store in order to help with time management, child care and of course not clearing a shelf! I try to shop a stock-up deal a couple times (at different locations) throughout a week…as to not clear a shelf. If I plan on getting a larger quantity of items I ALWAYS special order whatever I am buying!
  4. Why were you in a motorized cart?
Just a few days before the filming began I was put on bed rest as a precaution by my doctor. I was given permission to be allowed to continue the shoot by my doctor as long as I was in a wheel chair or motorized cart.
  5. How did you get your coupons?
This time getting my coupons was different. I have had a harder time going out and getting coupons as I did before, so I have greatly relied on friends and neighbors giving me the coupons they had! I also for the first time did have to order some coupons from a clipping service (which is something I do not normally do and try to prevent). However a majority of my coupons came from the newspaper, online printables, and trading with other couponing friends!
  6. How much did you spend on your trip?
Now this gets a little tricky as we did have a few issues with the register freezing up and crashing! I did end up paying $0.56 in order to close out our order and move on to a different register (mainly because being 7 months pregnant I didn’t want to wait forever while we figured it out). However, I did leave with $55 in Catalina’s to spend on my next shopping trip, vouchers for 3 FREE Hams, and earned over $54 in ShopYourWay Rewards!  So technically I left making  $142!!!!
  7. What did you do with all that stuff?
Well we intended on keeping part of it and donating the rest. But we found out the day after the shoot that we would be moving from Washington State to Kansas!!! So we ended up either donating or giveaway everything!!!!
  8. How many coupons did you double?
Just like anybody else who shops at Kmart I only doubled 5 coupons per person per day. Which means…I doubled 5 coupons and my husband doubled 5 coupons and that’s it!
  9. Why did you do so many transactions?
I had to break up my transactions for a few reasons…first of all Kmart’s cash registers have a very small line limit (a line limit is how many “lines” can be scanned…which includes products, coupons and voids) Secondly, Kmart’s coupon policy only allows for 1 catalina coupon to be used per transaction…and I used a $5-$10 catalina to help pay down the cost of EVERY single transaction. Thirdly, I used Shop Your Way rewards to also keep down the cost of each transaction.

Eager to explore your site and incorporate your coupon savvy into my personal budget! Hope you’re doing well and adjusting to your doctor’s restrictions. BTW, when was that pic actually taken; before the birth of your 4th or are you anticipating a 5th miracle? Best wishes to you and your family for an easy move to Kansas. Don’t forget your ruby red slippers! I’m off to see the wizard; the wonderful wizard of couponing!

Hi Angelique! You are amazing, 4 kids and this kind of saving! Good for you, and keep it going.

I’m new to couponing so I have been following blogs and reading new things to learn. I also LOVE TLCs extreme couponing.

First I have to commend you on spending 14 hours in a store while pregnant! With both of my children I was happy to spend less than 5 minutes in a store. I did all my bargain hunting before, went in with a detailed list, and left. I refused to mess with coupons or anything else because I was so exhausted lol.

Second I think it is wonderful that the items you didn’t need went to donation. I have friends who like to buy all kinds of things they never use and they just store it away until it expires then they throw it out. I always ask what the point is in buying something you will never use when someone else could have bought it and actually used it and they just say that it was a good deal and who knows when you might need something. It just seems pointless to me.

    Congratulations on your move!
