Ikea Grand Opening September 10th…better get ready now!

IKEA Merriam officially opens its doors to the public on Wednesday, September 10, at 9:00 a.m., but are already customers at the front doors with sleeping bags and tents awaiting the celebration.

Why are they waiting already you ask? Well the first 40 adults (18 and older) in line at the IKEA Merriam grand opening on September 10 will receive a free EKTORP three-seat sofa. The next 100 adults (18 and older) in line will receive a free POÄNG armchair; and the first 100 children will receive a free FAMNIG heart-shaped soft toy. The first 2,500 people to enter the store will receive a random mystery prize with an IKEA gift card or voucher for food item. More promotions will be offered Thursday and Friday too.

Store Officially opens on Wednesday, September 10, 2014! There are are slew of festivities that are going along with the stores opening check them out!

• Music/entertainment/giveaways for campers 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
• Flag raisings, remarks, log-sawing 8:20 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
• Doors of IKEA Merriam open 9:00 a.m.

PLUS Governor Sam Brownback, Merriam Mayor Ken Sissom and IKEA U.S. CFO Rob Olson will join IKEA Merriam store manager Rob Parsons in a ceremony welcoming the community and concluding with a traditional Swedish log-sawing, bringing good luck to the new home and its future visitors.

Johnson County Board Chair Ed Eilert will raise the U.S. flag, Honorary Swedish Consul for Kansas City Craig Roeder will raise the Swedish flag and Kansas Representative Emily Perry will raise the state flag of Florida.

I was able to visit Ikea last week during the press event and let me tell you this store is amazing! It is for sure the nicest IKEA I have ever been to! It is huge! Full of awesome furniture, toys, accessories, appliances and more. IKEA has definitely grown into a massive super store! I have 40+ photo’s I took while at the press event that I wish I could share with you…because honestly there were just so many awesome features I wanted to share!

While at the event we were able to see the whole store and all it had to offer! Some of my favorite features were the Swedish Meatballs, the kids play area (where you can check in your kids to play while you shop), the pre-set mini house models, the party supply addition to the store – ok I could seriously go on and on and on!
