DIY Home Decor Projects

Crafting is fun no matter how old you are. Personally I am not a super creative person, but I still love to craft when I can. My kids on the other hand are craft-maniacs.  They could draw, paint, color and create all day if I let them. I love decorating my house for the Fall season, so why not let the kids help me out. Make some of your home decor projects with the assistance of your kids. Not only will you create memories, your kids will better appreciate the effort you put into actually decorating the house. Some ideas for family fall decor projects include, leaf lanterns, burlap banners, word art (with blocks and washi tape), pine cone potpourri (pine cones, cinnamon sticks and essential oils).

Scavenger Hunt

Take your kids on a fun scavenger hunt! Give them each a list of items to look for while going on a family walk around a local park or trail. The kids can look for items such as pine cones, acorns, bird nests (just look don’t touch), caterpillar, 3 different colored leaves and more!

Bake like your Grandma taught you

Fall seems to be the beginning of the baking season. There are so many fun and delicious treats perfect for creating fall memories. My kids love coming home from school with the smell of homemade apple sauce in the air or freshly baked pumpkin bread. I love to sit back with a cup of Eggnog Chai Latte and a muffin, while snuggling up in my favorite blanket and reading. My goal for this fall is to bake a new/different fall treat every week for my kids and family to enjoy.

Go Apple Picking

This is a perfect activity for reaching two goals. First the whole family can participate and have a blast while collecting apples from your local apple orchard. Secondly, all the picked apples will be perfect for making some of those Fall favorite snacks; apple pie, apple sauce, apple butter, apple cobbler, apple crisp, apple cider, candy apples – and the list goes on!

Attend a Football Game (mini tailing party)

Have some fun! Grab some tickets to your local high school, college or professional football team and take the family on a date night! If you are up to it, create a mini family friendly tailgating party, with hot dogs, burgers, snacks, soda, tasty treats…it’s the experience not the food that the kids are going to remember!
