How to be a working mom (dad) and an Extreme Couponer!
I won’t lie it’s no walk in the park! But yes it can be done! There are a few things to remember…First of all find a way to organize your coupons in a way that fits your current lifestyle. (If you don’t have time to clip then use a filing method or clipping service!) This way if there is an awesome deal you really want you have everything easily accessible, resulting in saving time!
The second thing to remember is that rainchecks are your best friend! To be honest if it wasn’t for rainchecks I probably wouldn’t be able to get 80% of my purchases. Working means that often times I don’t get a chance to go out and chase that super amazing deal, so by the time I get there nothing is left L But guess what Raincheck to the rescue!!! The best thing about rainchecks is you can go back and get the desired amount of that item anytime before the raincheck or coupons expire. Another benefit of rainchecks is sometimes you are able to score an even better deal with it. For instance, say you were unable to get diapers from a store when they were on sale for $5.99 per pack, so you get a raincheck. You were planning on using a coupon for $1.50/1 Huggies diaper coupon making your total price $4.49 per pack of diapers.
***Deal Scenario #1***
(Using your raincheck for $5.99 per pack of Huggies Diapers, immediately)
Buy (1) pack of Huggies Diapers
Use (1) $1.50/1 Huggies Coupon
Final Cost: $4.49 each
But WAIT!!! Say you don’t use your raincheck right away and a couple of weeks later an even better coupon comes out for $3/1 pack of Huggies diapers!!! Watch what happens now with your raincheck!
***Deal Scenario #2***
(Using your raincheck for $5.99 a couple of weeks later)
Buy (1) pack of Huggies Diapers
Use (1)$3/1 Huggies Coupon
Final Cost: $2.99 each!!!
The last and most important thing to remember is being “extreme” doesn’t mean you have to “catch” every deal. Remember that deals always come back around…if you can’t get there life will go on! In my opinion being an extreme couponer means that you save EXTREME, create a budget (and stick to it) and stockpile when items hit rock bottom prices so you don’t have to pay full price later. By having your coupons ready you can illuminate some of the time and stress of rushing to “catch that deal” you are chasing to add to your stockpile. Plus remember you can always get rainchecks for those items that you are gone by the end of the week when you finally have a chance to get there! All of these tips will help you achieve a stockpile and accomplish being a busy mom or dad as well as an extreme couponer….who ever said you couldn’t do it all?!
