Bliss: A Guide to Inspired Gift Giving for the Expectant Mom (Book Review)
Whether you are pregnant or know someone who is pregnant giving and receiving gifts can become so generic. Bliss: A guide to inspired gift giving for the expectant mom by Hava Skovron is a great book designed to help you discover a more unique and exciting form of gift giving!
Skovron has created a tradition of gift giving for expectant mothers called Bliss. It is similar to the commonly known traditions of anniversary gifting. Whether the expecting momma is pregnant with her first baby or pregnant with her 6th, Bliss will be sure to make her feel special for each and every single month of her pregnancy.
Starting in the third month of pregnancy BLISS gives you gift ideas to bless the expectant mom with. With every month comes a new gift theme! Not only does Skovron explain the theme for each month but she gives hundreds of wonderful gift ideas. What momma wouldn’t absolutely LOVE being blessed and getting a little gifting pampering each month?!? Because lets face it…no matter how special a pregnancy may be…it’s not easy!
With each month of pregnancy comes new challenges. With the first months comes the excitement, the second month comes the fear of completing the pregnancy successfully…skip along to the 3rd and 4th months when morning sickness is at it’s worse…finally you approach the final months of pregnancy when you begin to feel ugly, uncomfortable and anxious. Bliss suggests gifts and inspirational tools to help the expecting momma through each and every struggle of pregnancy.
I am a mom of 4 kids myself and have several friends with 4+ kids each. With each new pregnancy no matter how many babies you have had the excitement is the same, and that is one thing I think people often forget. Just because you have had more babies doesn’t mean that you are not ecstatic with the coming on a new addition. However, with the more babies you have the less likely you are to have a baby shower. So with Bliss you can get more ideas on how to encourage the momma throughout her pregnancy and bless her throughout. (Especially if she is not planning on having a baby shower)
Now I have to share one more thing about my love for this book…it is a new found appreciation of the idea of Bliss. I have 4 kids but I have had two very difficult miscarriages, and with those miscarriages I found myself so sad and disappointed. When I was able to conceive again I spent my entire pregnancies living in fear. No one else around me could ever understand the weight and burden I carried throughout my pregnancies after my losses. I would highly recommend buying and reading Bliss if you know someone who is pregnant and has lost a baby previously. Gifting small easy gifts throughout that momma’s pregnancy can really touch her heart in a way no one could ever understand!
