How to Decorate a Small Space (or College Dorm)

Decorating small spaces can be such a challenge. Making that space look clean, organized and chic can really get tough. I have found that finding a few unique accent pieces along with a couple cute organizational pieces and you can really pull together a fabulous space. Thankfully with At Home stores you can find fantastic accent and organizational pieces for a great deal, that are perfect for any space big or large.
Recently we decided we needed to update my daughters room. Giving her a more mature and organized look. We took a quick trip down to our local At Home store and right away found several adorable pieces that would work perfectly with her new “look”.
You see my daughter is really in nature not very organized and thrives on clutter. So my first line of business was to find a way to help her enjoy organizing her dresser space so that it could look pretty, instead of cluttered. We picked up this beautiful white lacquer tray. On it I grabbed a few extra mason jars for her to put her accessories in, as well as a simple block letter “N” for her name and the icing on the cake was the awesome gold “Believe” medal sign (definitely her favorite piece of them all)!
The next most important (in my opinion) organizational item we picked up from At Home was the fantastic green and cream colored tall basket we snatched up! It can be used for multiple purposes as it is a great medium size. But we are planning on using it for her trash, to help eliminate random pieces of junk floating around her room.
The last two more decorative pieces we picked up were more for “design” purposes to help tie in all of the colors and styles in her room into one cohesive look. The 3 piece canvases with beautiful flowers and awesome little sayings was the perfect piece. It brought all of the different shades of green and coral accents together and added a little pop of “girlie” to her very sporty room. The other piece of course was the “Live Your Life” photo clip board. Such a simple piece but perfect for a young lady who loves to have pictures of her friends and loved ones close by!
I have to say I just love how everything came together. Just a few simple pieces and this small space was absolutely transformed. If you are looking to up-do one of your small spaces or a college dorm I would highly recommend heading to your closest At Home store and checking them out! They really have something for everyone, every style and every space (indoor and outdoor)!
