Being a wife (husband), mom (dad), coach or whatever roll you may play – is not easy! As a mom of four kiddos, a full time competitive gymnastics coach, blogger and wife – sometimes I feel like I just can’t keep up with my daily tasks. Even more so my body often times feels like it can’t keep up with me. Often times I wake up in the morning with my body just aching from all of the activities from the day prior and I find myself slumped on the couch at the end of the night trying to bribe one of my kids to rub my shoulders before bed time. Life can be tough – but don’t let that tear you down.
In order to be successful at completing your daily tasks sometimes you just need to take care of yourself FIRST. I am talking about the things you can do to take care of your self, mind and body. For instance, you obviously need to eat. So make sure to feed yourself good “fuel”, healthy food choices are important! However, every once in a while you still need to treat yourself to your favorite dessert.
Exercise is also very important. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout. Simply take 5-10 minutes everyday to tighten up those muscles and raise those endorphin’s. Believe me even just 5 minutes a day can really make you and your body feel so much more rejuvenated and raise your daily endurance to complete those daily tasks.
Listen to music. Music has such a healing quality for you mind. It has the ability to calm you down, feel peaceful, relate with the outside world (something us mom’s often feel disconnected from) and overall improve your daily outlook.
Get a massage! That’s right – I said it GET A MASSAGE! Not because you “deserve” it but because you need it! Massages are fantastic for maintaining your total health. Busy moms (and dads) need to take care of every aspect of their bodies and includes keeping those muscles loose and free from knots and tension. Treating your body well shouldn’t be a luxury.
