How to Extreme Coupon at CVS and the 98% Rule

cvs rule

CVS often times runs amazing deals that include Extra Care Bucks or ECB’s. These offers are based on buying a product and then receiving a coupon after purchase. For instance: if you spend $30 (before coupons) on select P&G products you would receive a $10 ECB. (This is simply an example). This means before you use any coupons your total should be $30 and then after you pay you will receive a coupon for a specific dollar amount good to use off ANYTHING on your next purchase. Basically it is a coupon that is as good as cash (except it expires eventually).

Now here is the tricky part. Even if the deal states that you have to spend $30 on select products you do not actually have to spend “exactly” the $30 to trigger the reward/coupon. In fact you simply have to purchase 98% off the required amount before coupons in order to trigger and print the ECB offer!

I call this the 98% Rule and it’s AWESOME! Here are a few examples for you…

ECB requirement says “Spend” $5…you Spend $4.90 or more
ECB requirement says “Spend” $10…you must Spend $9.80 or more
ECB requirement says “Spend” $15…you must Spend $14.70 or more
ECB requirement says “Spend” $20…you must Spend $19.60 or more

ECB requirement says “Spend” $30… you must Spend $29.40 or more
