Book Review: The Otter the Spotted Frog and The Great Flood!
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
The Otter the Spotted Frog and The Great Flood was written by Gerald Hausman and fabulously illustrated by Ramon Shiloh.
It’s surprising to me how there are so many cultures enjoy different versions of the flood story. I found this version told by the Creek Indians to be quite fascinating. I was pleased to see how the story tells of a simple yet moral message for both me and my children to share together!
The story is easy to read and understand for children ages 3 and up. My kids are ages 1, 5, 7 and 9 years old…and ALL of them LOVED this story! My older kids enjoyed the story and the moral concept of thinking of others as more important than yourself. My youngest little one although only 18 months old…enjoyed the beautiful illustrations so bright and colorful.
I enjoyed how the story brought in many great learning concepts for my kids, listening and respecting others, caring, and even environmental concerns (like global warming). I also found that even though we believe a different version of the “flood story” we were able to learn about another culture and their beliefs through this lovely story 🙂
