Book Review: Writing Scary Scenes by Rayne Hall

I recently was offered the opportunity to review “Writing Scary Scenes” by Rayne Hall. I was very excited to learn how to become a better writer how to create the ultimate suspenseful-scary scene.  I found this book to be very helpful! I would not recommend this book to the very new beginner writer, however if you have taken one or two writing classes in your past this book will suit your needs perfectly!

This book contains helpful suggestions on how to increase the suspense, intensify the climax, and best of all how to structure a scene to make the reader truly feel the character’s fear. You can use this book to write a new scene, help improve the tension of a previously written scene or captivate readers attention and emotions.

I would highly recommend this book to the less experienced writer, looking to expand their writing capabilities. This book is a great learning tool as well as a great resource. Best of all Writing Scary Scenes was written in such a way that it is easy to flip through it whenever you are at a loss or in need of a little “scary” motivation.
