Give Your Kids a Mental Break With Yo-Kai Watch

It’s hard sometimes to put life into perspective, but think about this. Kids from age 6+ are in school using a great deal of mental focus for about 8 hours a day. After school many kids go out for competitive sports and again use a great deal of mental and physical energy. I sometimes have to think about this and put things into perspective. Sometimes kids need a mental break and Yo-kai Watch is a perfect outlet.
Yo-kai Watch is a video game that is all a craze in Japan and now it is available in the United States. It’s available exclusively for the portable Nintendo 2DS and 3DS family of systems including the New Nintendo 3DSXL. My son enjoys playing his 3DS occasionally. We don’t have a huge amount of screen time in our family, but we do allow a minimal amount of no-brain time where the kids and just veg out and relax (I mean I need this after a long day at work, so why not allow my kids the same in moderation of course.)
So here is a little bit about Yo-kai Watch. To play you must find and befriend one of the mischievous Yo-kai that inhabit the world and turn them into a team that battles other Yo-kai. For instance, have you ever forgotten your keys or found yourself running late? Maybe a Yo-kai is to blame. The game begins with a challenge to find several bugs like lady bugs, cicadas and more. Search them and capture them – the rarer the better.

My son loves to play games on his 3DS or watch a movie on his ipad if he’s inside.

This would be great for all those moments when they need something to do whether its in the car, a waiting rooom, a long line, grocery store…..

This sounds like something my Littleman would like. He’s not allowed a lot of screen time, but sometimes mommy needs a little help keeping him occupied while chores get done.

My son likes to play outside with the dogs and dig in the dirt.
