Hoffman Academy: Learn to Play Piano from Home (Review)

My daughter has been asking for piano lessons for about 2 years…but with our super busy schedules (she is a competitive gymnast) and our limited budget, we have not been able to find a way to her started! I was really excited when I was recently offered an opportunity to review the Hoffman Academy Unit One  piano lessons for a beginner (in exchange for my HONEST opinion).

Something that I just loved about Hoffman Academy is that all 60 of the instructional videos are available for viewing for free on their website you just pay for the supplemental materials!  The video’s are all interactive with Mr Hoffman as the teacher. Mr Hoffman is actually quite entertaining and does a great job at engaging the kids through video. For just $29 you will be able to access and download Unit 1, which will include 20 lesson plan files, MP3’s for the student to listen to or play along with, activity pages to engage them, sheet music and instruction pages.  Considering that piano lessons can cost $30 per 30 minute lesson…you are getting 29 lessons for just a buck a piece!!! Now talk about budget friendly!

Now keep in mind that you can not just sit your kids in front of the video and keyboard and expect them to just learn completely on their own. As a parent, you are the “Daily Practice Partner” for your child.  Thankfully you do not need to have any prior musical experience to do this.  However the lessons are still designed to be done together as a child-parent team.  Also just as if you were taking regular lessons from a piano teacher, your child should plan on spending 15-20 minutes each day practicing and reviewing the lessons.

We have enjoyed this Hoffman Academies easy to use, convenient and affordable piano lessons and most definitely recommend this program. My daughter has already learned so much and is learning more everyday!
