HoneyBaked Ham #Review and #Giveaway

Coming from a family of chefs I have always enjoyed cooking a fancy Easter meal and never felt I could ever enjoy a meal pre-made by a restaurant/corporation. However, has my family grows I have began to realize that the quality time I spend with my kids is far more important than spending hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning.

With four young kids in the house you can imagine how crazy the holidays can be and Easter is no exception! As mommy and Easter bunny I spend the week (and weeks before) hunting down gifts and trinkets to fill my kids Easter baskets. When the day finally comes I set out Easter basket for my kids to find when they wake up in the morning. Once all 4 kids have successfully opened their baskets and made a HUGE mess, I clean up and begin the next stage…CHURCH! This stage is even more exhausting as I have to get kids showered, girls dressed in their fancy dresses and hair done up. Boy get dressed in their little man suits and hair spiked up to complete the look. By the time we are done with that we are rushing off to church hoping to not be late.

After church the real fun begins. We usually go to a friends house for a huge group Easter egg hunt and then lunch. This is were I have begin to feel like a failure. After all of the prior activities of Easter I just can’t seem to pull together a nice meal for my family. I am simply just too tired. This is why finding I was determined to find a delicious (homemade) alternative to providing an Easter meal for my family without overwhelming myself.

So I headed over to my local HoneyBaked Ham Company on Metcalf Road in Overland Park, Kansas to check out their options and I wasn’t disappointed. There were so many fabulous options of side dishes to choose from, Potatoes Ah Gratin, Green Been Casserole, Loaded Mashed Potatoes, Macaroni and Cheese, Sweet Potato Souffle, and Cinnamon Apples. Then add the amazing freshly baked rolls from a local Overland Park bakery, amazing desserts and all the extras you could choose from (salad dressings, dipping sauces, soups, sandwiches and more)!

As for side dishes we ended up trying out the Green Bean Casserole and Loaded Mashed Potatoes. Both were absolutely delicious. Extremely flavorful and seasoned to perfection, I found that I didn’t even need to spruce them up at all. They tasted perfect just the way they came! Even more awesome was the process in which I prepared dinner. So easy for the sides I simply took them out of their packaging, removed the plastic cover from the top and placed them in the oven at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes.

I also picked up a quarter ham (about 4.5 lbs). This size ham was absolutely perfect for our family of 6. The honey and brown sugar candied crust on the outside of the ham was absolutely phenomenal. I have always made my own version of a candied glazed ham…but I will admit, the HoneyBaked ham was actually better than my own. The ham itself was extremely moist and melt in your mouth scrumptious. I will most definitely be adding it to my menu more often then just holidays!

Finally we finished our meal with a dessert. Now let me start out by saying that neither my husband or I drink liquor. However, after talking to the very kind employee at the HoneyBaked store and hearing his rave reviews, I decided it would be worth a try. Oh my gosh…it was fantastic! So moist and flavorful. It was just the perfect amount of rum flavor. I did add a little drizzle of my homemade salted caramel sauce and a dollop of  homemade whipping cream, but it could definitely stand on its own if you didn’t want to mess with the extras. AMAZING that is all I can say!

Thank heavens for the discovery of HoneyBaked Ham Company! I can now have it all. The fun and festivities with my kids AND a delicious meal! I will definitely be making HoneyBaked a tradition in our home, both for Easter and just because it’s so delicious and convenient.
