Hot Apple Crisp! YUMMY…here is my recipe for amazingness!
I just made the most amazing Apple Crisp and thought that I could share my recipe with you all! The best part of this Apple Crisp is that it tastes like the inside of an apple pie but even more amazing and less fattening because most of the fat in a pie comes from the crust!
Angel’s Apple Crisp
Ingredients for the inside:
- 2 1/2 lbs (or about 6 medium) Granny Smith apples, peeled, quartered, cored, and sliced.
- 2 -3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Ingredients for the topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3-4 ounces unsalted butter, cut into small pieces and chilled
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Peel, cut and sliced apples. Toss them in the lemon juice.
- To make the filling: mix sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a separate bowl. Toss apples in filling mixture and place in a pie plate or medium sized casserole dish.
- To make the topping: In a medium bowl, mix together all dry ingredients together. With a pastry cutter or fork cut butter into mixture until small pebbly pieces of butter are distributed throughout the mixture.
- Pour topping evenly over apples.
- Bake until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling and tender, about 45 minutes.
- Serve with heavy cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. (Sorry I forgot to grab a picture of this step! We were to anxious to eat ours!)
