Book Review: Writing Fight Scenes by Rayne Hall

I recently was offered the opportunity to review the “Writing Fight Scenes” Kindle book. I found it very helpful and educational in learning how to write detailed fight scenes. This book was perfect for the beginner writer wanting to expand their writing capabilities. The author Rayne Hall, begins the book with the basics of writing fight scenes with mood and style: gritty or entertaining. He then discusses how location and structure are essential to staging a fight scene.

The book goes into depth describing a number of various weapons commonly used in fiction from swords and daggers, axes, clubs…even firearms and more. Even better Hall takes the time to describe the background uses, strengths and weaknesses of each weapon. This will help the writer better choose the appropriate weapon for a fight scene as well as better describe its capabilities.

I would recommend this book to new writers especially interested in writing dramatic fight scenes. However I must admit having some form of combat/fighting experience would be useful in further understanding the terminology used in the book and as well as better relating with the concept of movement. The best features of “Writing Fight Scenes” by Rayne Hall  was as a writing tool it was short, sweet and to the point. Making it extremely easy to use as a writing recourse. Amazon sells this book in the Kindle edition for as low as just $2.99 and for that price you just can’t go wrong…especially for such a value writing instrument!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
