I have recently began to teach all my kids how to help out with “responsibilities” (chores) around the house. My oldest daughter has the task of loading and unloading the dishwasher. We have spent a great deal of time trying to teach her how to pre-wash the dishes and stack them in the dishwasher. It seemed no matter how much time I spent teaching her how to wash the dishes, every time she went to unload the dishes were still dirty. I have been using a name brand dish washing detergent for years. I was positive that the lack of clean dishes had nothing to do with my detergent and everything to do with the combination my very old school dishwasher and my 10 year old’s lack of pre-washing. Boy was I WRONG!
That’s right I will fess up…I was wrong! Here is what happened – I was offered the opportunity to review Cascade Platinum dish washing detergent and was sure I would get the same results I had always gotten. I was sent the information about Cascade Platinum in which they asked me to NOT pre-wash my dishes, just scrape off the big pieces of food and put them in the dishwasher. Even more – they asked me to let those dishes to sit for a day before running them in the dishwasher. Now I was sure they were really crazy, because my dishwasher is old and crusty and hardly works anymore. But I followed the directions and WOWZERS – I was amazed!!! All of my dishes were totally spotless and shiny even! They were cleaner than I have seen in years!
Now that I have been AMAZED by Cascade Platinum I can stop wasting money on soap and water pre-washing. I can stop wasting time and energy on pre-washing and I can stop getting irritated at my daughter for not doing it good enough. Cascade is the answer to all our dish washing problems.
What I learned about Cascade Platinum is that this detergent works best if you leave the food ON the dishes! This is because the detergent has special enzymes that attach to the left-on food particles and breaks it down so it just washes away. I was also fascinated in learning that dishwashers have their own garbage disposal unit, so that any food that gets washed off and rinsed down the drain will not clog up your pipes! Man I have learned so much from Cascade!
So to truly put Cascade Platinum to the test I made up some Homemade Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese and brownies for my family and friends. Since Mac ‘n Cheese is so cheesy and starching it makes the dishes pretty hard to get clean. I let the dishes sit for hours while we visited and played games. I then scraped off the large pieces of food from the dishes and put all of our dirty dishes (without any pre-wash) in the dishwasher with a tab of Cascade Platinum detergent, filled the compartment with Cascade Rinse Aid and turned the dishwasher on. After our movie was over we went back to checkout the results of the dishes…VIOLA – they were sparkly clean! Absolutely perfect!

7 Tips for Dishwasher Success
- You can stack ’em high or stack ’em low – just make sure bulky items don’t block the sprayer
- Place tall dishes and pans in the back of the bottom rack so they don’t block the detergent chamber
- Check your bottom – place glasses and other fragile items in the top rack. This keeps them away from the powerful sprayer under the bottom rack
- Your tine to shine – keep glasses looking great. Set them between tines on the rack, not over them – wet contact points can cause spots
- Lock and load – threading longer utensils through coffee-mug handles can help keep them secure in the wash
- Check to ensure that there aren’t any stray utensils that will block the nozzle or sprayer
- Load big dishes on the bottom rack, face down so the water is sure to reach all the nooks and crannies
