ProperFlops was conceptually started during a flight back from an extensive travelling trip overseas. During the trip, the founder-who loves flip flops and wears them 24/7- began to experience extensive pain and swelling in his feet. Upon his return, he went to his podiatrist, who informed him that he should no longer wear flip flops, as they were beginning to damage his feet. The doctor did not have many suggestions for flip flops that had proper arch support, and as a result, many hours were spent searching for a solution.
The alternatives were few and far between; the few companies that did offer orthopedic- type flip flops, were almost all made in China, did not look that great, and cost far more than any flip flop should ever cost. That’s when the light bulb went on – could it be possible to create a flip flop that was first and foremost good for your feet, but yet also durable, stylish, affordable, recyclable and made in the USA??? With that, the idea of Properflops was born and with a little elbow grease, is now a reality.
