12 Uses and Home Remedies for Peppermint Oil

There are so many uses for Peppermint oils. It is seriously a miracle oil! If you are looking for an all in one ingredient to keep in your home I would highly recommend Peppermint oil! It is the heal all, cure all, fix all, clean all – everything oil! Whether you are looking to relieve gas, refresh bad breath or making an all purpose household cleaner – peppermint is the answer!

  1. Headaches – Simply apply it to the forehead and the temples, behind the ears, and/or the base of the neck. Give it 5-10 minutes (lay down if you can) and your headache will soon begin to fade away. Make sure to not use too much peppermint around your face or your eyes will begin to tear up!
  2. Bad Breath – Add a drop of peppermint to your tongue and rub your gums. The peppermint will kill the bacteria and make your mouth minty fresh.
  3. Weight Loss – Studies have shown that peppermint will help curb your appetite. Whenever you have cravings for sweets or unhealthy snacks add a drop on the tongue and that craving will decrease.
  4. Digestive Issues – Those who suffer from upset stomach, bloating, or indigestion, simply rub a drop of peppermint directly to the tummy and almost immediately you will feel a sense of relief.
  5. Reduce Fevers – Apply a drop of peppermint essential oil to the bottom of the feet. Or soak a clothe in warm peppermint infused water and lay over limbs and forehead. Peppermint oil is especially helpful in breaking fevers in children. They say Peppermint oil can reduce a fever 3 degrees in a matter of just minutes when applied to the torso!
  6. Itch Relief – Apply peppermint oil to stop itching caused by bug bites, hives, poison ivy or poison oak.
  7. Ant Deterrent – Put a dab of peppermint oil in the path of the ants and they will go running away!
  8. Feet and Back Pain – For an aching feet and backs simply add peppermint to a warm compress or even your hot bath and soak. The peppermint will not only provide a refreshing feeling but it will also reduce any inflammation
  9.  Relieve Heartburn – Add a drop or peppermint oil and a teaspoon of honey to your tea. Or mix 5-6 drops of peppermint oil with a teaspoon of coconut oil and massage onto your chest.
  10. Stress Reducer – Add Peppermint oil to a diffuser or candle nearby to provide relief from stress, anxiousness, depression, restlessness and mental exhaustion.
  11. Anti-Bug Spray – Make a peppermint bug spray by adding 4-5 drops of peppermint essential oil to water in a spray bottle and spray where you would find spiders in your home. Or spray around your plants to get rid of aphids in the garden.
  12. Household Cleaner – Mix water, vinegar and Peppermint oil to make an effective, all purpose household cleaner.
