Homemade Carnival Kettle Corn Recipe

Homemade Kettle Corn

Have you ever purchased Kettle Corn from a carnival, fair, pumpkin patch or wherever else? My family absolutely loves Kettle Corn, but it can be so expensive. Thankfully I have found this awesome recipe for Homemade Carnival Kettle Corn that honestly tastes just as good or maybe even better.

You really don’t need anything special for this recipe. Just a large stockpot, quality popcorn kernels, sugar and salt! It’s so easy you will kick yourself for not knowing this recipe before!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • stockpot with lid
  • wax paper

Directions

Pour olive oil into your stockpot (you should have just enough to coat the bought of the pot). Turn your stove top on high heat and allow to heat your oil. Once your oil is sizzling hot, add ONE kernel to the pot, if it pops pretty quickly then your oil is ready.

Once your oil is hot and ready, add popcorn kernels and sugar to pan. Cover with a lid and rapidly shake back and forth not allowing the sugar or popcorn kernels to burn.

Continue to shake rapidly while popcorn is popping. Once the popcorn begins to slow down popping, immediately remove pot from heat and pour over wax paper.

At this point you will sprinkle salt over top the hot popcorn. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes as the popcorn will be extremely hot (especially because the sugar has caramelized to the outside of the popcorn).

Serve in a large bowl and enjoy. Beware, I always make a double batch of this popcorn hoping for some left over and that never happens! Every single piece of popcorn always gets devoured in minutes!
