Blooming Onion Cheesy Bread
Oh my goodness! I have discovered the best way to eat Sourdough bread! This Blooming Onion Cheesy bread is by far the most amazing bread dish I have EVER had! It takes about 15 minutes to prep and put together, but it is soooo worth it.
I have made this bread dish several times and it is always a hit. Every single piece of the bread gets devoured within just minutes! The only thing I have to warn you about is, just as addicting as this amazing Blooming Onion Cheesy bread is – it’s not the best for your waist line, so save it for those special occasions and then INDULGE!
Ingredients
- Round loaf of bread (uncut, sourdough works best)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 lb mozzarella (Monterrey jack works too!), slided or shredded
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- Salt and Pepper
- Foil
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Slice loaf across the top into a grate/grid like pattern, 5-6 slices going across and 5-6 slices going in the opposite position. Make sure not to slice all the way through the loaf, this is VERY important!
- Place cheese in between each “gap” in the bread. I used 1/4 inch slices of cheese and put one piece between every single cube of bread.
- In a small bowl mix melted butter, minced garlic, chopped green onion, salt and pepper. Gently place spoonfuls of mixture between each “gap” of bread. It will feel like you are putting a lot, but honestly the more the better. This mixture is amazing.
- Wrap “filled” bread loaf with foil. Place in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes.
- Eat fresh out of the oven, and beware this dish is extremely addicting and will go fast!
