DIY Ice Prevention Spray and Ice Removing Windshield Spray!

diy ice prevention

Save yourself some time and heartache with these awesome DIY Ice Prevention and Removal recipes. The first recipe I am going to share is perfect for pre-treating your car windshield the night before an expected frost. The Ice Prevention Spray is super easy! Simply mix 2 parts vinegar to 1 part water, place it in a spray bottle and apply it directly to your cars windshields. Keep in mind you don’t want to spray the mixture directly on the paint of your car as it could harm the paint. If you are worried about this, you can spray the mixture onto a towel and wipe it directly to the windshield.

Icy Windshield Prevention Spray

Ingredients:

  • Spray Bottle
  • 2 Cup Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Water

The Ice Removal Spray is very similar in use as the Ice Prevention spray. It works great if you forget to put the Ice Prevention spray on the windshield the night before.

Ice Removal Spray

Ingredients:

  • Spray Bottle
  • 1 cup Rubbing alcohol
  • 2-3 drops Dishwashing liquid
  • 1/2 cup Water

Directions:

  1. Mix water, rubbing alcohol and dishwashing liquid together and pour into a spray bottle.
  2. Shake well before each use.
  3. Spray the solution directly to your icy car window and watch as the ice and frost disappear!

***Hint I sometimes warm up my solution for a few seconds in the microwave to help encourage quicker melting! Also be cautious as to not allow the mixture to spray directly onto the paint as some say it can damage the paint (however I have not personally had any issues).

This is a must have for Michigan weather, I hate when that ice builds up on my windows, so hard to get off with a scrapper sometimes, going to try this.

This is a good idea because it is really cold in the Winter where I live and I need something quick to clean off the windshield! Thanks for sharing a great recipe. I do not like the chemicals in the sprays at the store!
