Easiest Homemade Super Soft Pretzel Recipe

You won’t believe how amazing these pretzels are! They are honestly the most amazing pretzels I have EVER had! Plus they are so easy to make I am mad I haven’t been making these my whole life! I even had my 12 and 14 year old make them all by themselves! Theirs are the one’s I photographed! Didn’t they do an amazing job?!?!

There are several variations to toppings you can do on your pretzels. I really like the pretzel salt you can get HERE. My son puts cinnamon and sugar on his, and my husband likes the Everything Bagel seasoning we get from Aldi.

Here’s another tip/essential you might want. I found that these pretzel cook best when on a silicon mat, HERE are the ones I use.

Now for the good part…

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3-4 cups all purpose flour
  • coarse salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 8-9 cups water

DIRECTIONS

1. Add lukewarm water and the 1 packet of yeast into a large mixing bowl. Whisk lightly and set aside for 1-2 minutes. Add salt, brown sugar, and melted. Mix well.

2. Slowly add flour 1 cup at a time, while mixing on low speed (or mixing by hand with a wooden spoon). Mix until dough is thick and not sticky.

3. Sprinkle some flour onto a clean counter top. knead dough by hand for about 3 minutes and shape into a ball. Cover with a towel and let rest for 10 minutes.

4. In a large pot add 9 cups of water and the baking soda. Turn burner on med-high heat, bring to a light boil.

5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a silicone mat on a baking tray (or if you do not have a silicone mat you can use parchment paper lightly sprayed with cooking spray).

6. Cut dough into 1/3 cup portions. Roll each portion into a 20 inch rope. Twist dough into a pretzel shape and press edges down firmly so it holds its shape.

7. Place carefully into your boiling baking soda bath. Let pretzels soak for 30 seconds. Using a slotted spoon or tongs remove pretzel from baking soda water and place on your silicon mat on the baking tray.

8. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, brush generously with melted butter and sprinkle coarse salt.
