Homemade Hairspray Recipe

diy hairspray

Hairspray is an essential hair product to most women and even some men! Think about it, generally we use hairspray in our everyday lives!  Hairspray has many different essential uses, some examples would be obviously to hold in your style, but also you can use hairspray to remove frizz from your hair, tame fly-aways, and even reduce static!

It’s also good to help remove stains from your clothes! However, a lot of people are concerned with the health of people who use an aerosol hairspray!

Aerosol cans are bad for the environment! Not to mention, if you want a good hairspray they get VERY pricey these days! So how would you like to make your own hairspray?

You will save a ton of money, it’s better for your body, better for the environment, and made with all natural ingredients that are easy to find within many households! Here’s how you do it:

Supplies you will need:
  • 1 cup of boiled water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vodka
  • 3 drops of any essential oil you like
Procedure:
  1. First, in a medium saucepan, boil your one cup of water.
  2. Once it has reached it’s boiling point, add in the sugar and stir until it is completely dissolved!
  3. Mix well then add the vodka.
  4. Mix together as well as you can, then remove from heat.
  5. After it cools you can add the essential oil, this is just completely used for the sake of creating a good smell and providing a little moisture!
  6. Pour into a spray bottle and viola! (I just recycled a spray bottle from a product that ran out…re-use, recycle, re-purpose)
