Rainbow Tie Dye Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

This Vanilla Buttercream Frosting is not only insanely cool, but it is so good! It has the best soft creamy texture, very settle in flavor, not too sweet. With it’s perfect vanilla flavor you won’t be disappointed.

I promise you will be impressed by its light and silky texture. This multi-purpose buttercream makes the perfect topping for your favorite flavored cupcake/cake, or sandwiched between two cookies….yummmm so good!

The Unicorn Rainbow Tie Dye look is really so easy to make! You simply make the yummy vanilla buttercream frosting. Next, separate into three bowls and add food coloring to each bowl. Finally, scoop 1 heaping spoonful of each color into a piping bag and pipe each cupcake. Once you run out of frosting refill your piping bag with 1 heaping spoonful of each colored frosting and repeat.

Rainbow Unicorn Tie Dye Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening, room temperature
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 TBSP whole milk
  • Food colorings of choice (best with 3 different colors)
  • Piping Bag and tip

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and shortening on medium speed. Mix until smooth and creamy texture.
  2. Add 1 cup of powdered sugar at a time to the creamed mixture. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and milk to mixture and continue to mix until silky smooth.
  4. To create the rainbow/tie dye look, separate buttercream into 3 individual bowls. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring to each bowl of buttercream. Mix coloring in well. Once the coloring is mixed well, scoop one heaping spoonful of each color into a piping bag. As you pipe on top your cupcake it will come out with a super cool tie dye look to it.
